Live Shows

The Shillelaghs bring around 100 years of combined performing experience to the stage (Wiggy and Lenny as members of “Jugdish” and “Jigsaw Johnny”, Chris as the drummer for the “George Wesley Band”, and Flannery, called “one of the best songwriters to emerge at the turn of the century” by the All Music Guide, as a solo act). The boys know what they’re doing. Cuts from the new CD are slipped in among a pile of relentless covers. From pounding Who tracks like “My Generation”, “I Can’t Explain”, and “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, to a wild take on “Jumping Jack Flash”…to channeling the great Levon Helm in “Up On Cripple Creek” and “The Weight”. They may tear through Little Richard’s “Slippin’ and Slidin'” before really opening things up with an epic take on Springsteen’s “Light of Day”. Medleys abound. “Don’t Do It/Magic Bus”. “Not Fade Away/Bo Diddley”. “Shakin All Over/Gloria/Save Me”. All kinda loud. Band members have been known to lose between 5 and 7 pounds during a show.

And that’s just the first set.

All bets are off really.

“We want to force the issue”, guitarist and singer Tom Flannery says. “We like to play on the edge….it’s fun trying not to fall off. And if we do we just cue Wiggy and he’ll play a slide solo with his 32 oz Heineken bottle until the rest of us get back up again. He’s a lifesaver….and not just ’cause he buys the 32 oz Heinekens …although that helps…”

So the Shillelaghs hope to see you out there. For bookings contact us here.
